High Tide Gaming's Mission to Rescue Plastic From The Ocean

High Tide Gaming's Mission to Rescue Plastic From The Ocean

High Tide Gaming was built on the idea that how you run a brand matters as much as what you sell. From day one that meant making a real commitment to the water we named ourselves after. Every single order placed through High Tide Gaming removes 25 plastic bottles from the ocean through our partnership with Greenspark. Here's the full picture of why we do it and what it actually means.

The Scale of the Problem Is Hard to Wrap Your Head Around

Over 8 million tons of plastic enter the ocean every year. According to The Ocean Conservancy, that's roughly one garbage truck of plastic dumped into the ocean every single minute of every single day.

If current trends hold, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation projects there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by weight before 2050. That projection gets thrown around a lot but it's worth sitting with for a second. More plastic than fish. In the ocean.

The problem compounds because plastic doesn't just disappear when it hits the water. It breaks down into microplastics, particles so small they move through the entire food chain from the smallest plankton all the way up. Microplastics are now found in seafood, drinking water, and the air we breathe. The long term health consequences of that are still being studied, which is perhaps the most unsettling part of all.

What Ocean Plastic Actually Does to Wildlife

The numbers on wildlife impact are staggering. The World Wildlife Fund estimates over one million seabirds and 100,000 marine animals die every year from ingesting or becoming entangled in plastic waste.

Beyond the direct harm to individual animals, microplastics disrupt the delicate balance of marine ecosystems at every level. When the smallest organisms in the ocean are compromised, everything that depends on them follows. The ripple effect touches every corner of the planet whether people live near the coast or not.

What High Tide Gaming Is Actually Doing About It

Through our Greenspark partnership, every HTG order triggers the removal of 25 plastic bottles from the ocean. Greenspark provides full transparency into where and how that removal happens.

We chose 25 bottles per order deliberately. It's a number big enough to add up fast across a real community of buyers, but the honest truth is the cumulative math is where this gets meaningful. A hundred orders removes 2,500 bottles. A thousand orders removes 25,000.

We also build our jerseys from recycled plastic, which means the product itself is part of the solution before it even ships. Waste that would otherwise sit in a landfill or float in the ocean becomes apparel. That closed loop approach to materials is something we're committed to expanding across more of our product line over time.

The Bigger Picture

We are a gaming org. We sell jerseys, hoodies, tees, and soap. We run esport teams and develop content creators. The ocean is in our name and keeping it clean is on us.
